Black Point Inn’s Epicurean Weekend is a unique event that will provide you with a chance to delight in the food and drink of a new region while making new friends and enjoying the hospitality of one of Maine’s most beautiful and gracious inns. Let us be your host to a weekend of relaxation, education, and revelry!
This year, our epicurean destination is Germany. We invite you to delight and indulge in German culture while gaining an understanding of their food, wine, beer, and spirits as well as a new sense of comradery with your fellow explorers. The itinerary is simple- no security lines, no bags to check… arrive on Friday, the keys go on the dresser, and away we go!
Friday, October 26th:
5:30pm – Welcome Reception
Black Point Inn and our friends at Pine State Beverage Company will welcome you with our our take on a traditional Oktoberfest, join us in exclaiming "O'zapft is" (keg is breached) while the sun sets over the ocean, and we enjoy Oktoberfest favorites such as 'brezel' (pretzel) and 'stecklerfisch' (grilled whitefish).
6:30pm - 8:30pm- Dinner in The Chart Room
Step into The Chart Room and imagine yourself in a German ‘bierzelt’ (beer hall); a rustic, family-style meal to be enjoyed with the sounds of our crackling fire and hearty conversation. Break bread alongside us over the casual ‘abendbrot’ (dinner) paired with your choice of German style ale or wine.
Saturday, October 28th:
8:00am - 10:00am - Breakfast
Enjoy a full German ‘Frühstrück’ (breakfast) at your leisure in The Chart Room composed of traditional ‘gebëck’ (pastries) including ‘streusel' and ‘stollen’, as well as coffee, tea and other tasty treats.
10:00am - 1:30pm - Free Time
Spend some time exploring the local area. Whether you head into Portland or decide to stay close to home, there plenty places to explore or activities to enjoy.
Should you prefer to take advantage of it, a limited ‘mittagessen’ (lunch) menu will be offered as picnic lunches and can be ordered through the Front Desk at special Epicurean Weekend prices.
1:30pm - 4:00pm – German Wine Certificate Seminar presented by Sam Brown, CSW, of Pine State Beverage Co. and Fred Mullins with Vias Wines,under the auspices of the Society of Wine Educators
Take a guided tour through the diverse regions of Germany. Taste and experience an array of wines from across the country that beautifully represent the time and place of their creation. Finish the seminar with a short exam (optional) to see how well you paid attention to the information… You may be surprised just how much you now know about German wine!
4:00pm-6:00pm - Free Time
6:00pm - Cocktail Hour
Once again join us and our friends at Pine State Beverage Company to begin the evening’s ‘feier’ (celebration) with drinks and ‘vorspeise’ (appetizers) before our culmination dinner event!
7:00pm - Formal German Dinner and Certificate Presentation
Black Point Inn’s culinary team has worked to prepare a classic, formal, multi-course spread that will delight each of your senses. Our Chef will introduce local meats, seafood and produce that represent the bounty of Maine's autumn harvest and reflect distinctive German cuisine. Our German experience continues with wines specifically chosen to accompany the meal.
Sunday, October 29th:
8:00am - 10:00am - Breakfast
Join us one last time in The Chart Room for a Full American buffet and a chance to say ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ (goodbye) to your new ‘fruenden’ (friends) until next year!
Join us for this special weekend with rates starting at $945.00* per couple for two nights of Maine oceanfront lodging, great food and drink, and fun.

- Lodging for Friday & Saturday night,
